Hello, my name is Tim Conboy and I've been trying to gather as much information as possible to give to my soon to be 95yo grandfather who never met his grandfather and barely knew his father, leaving him completely in the dark about all things relating to his paternal line. His grandfather, Thomas Joseph Conboy was born in Cloondarah, Lismaha, Tisrara, Athlone in 1873 to Peter Conboy (son of Roger Conboy, b. 1805 in Tisrara) & Sarah Murray (daughter of Henry & ?, b. ~1819, not sure where) -- AND Celia née Conboy (not ideal :( but times were tough). Since Peter's brother Martin Conboy emmigrated to the US in the 1860's, fought in the Civil War and won the Medal of Honor for the North/Union and had a son who became a very powerful and eventually wealthy lawyer who advised FDR (as Gov of NY & president) & Eamon DeValera (he handled much of the legal advice for the sale of the bonds), while things didnt work out so well for Peter & Celia. Thomas J. Conboy emmigrated to Boston in 1890 and was thrown (permanetly) into the Boston Harbor by the Italian mob in the '20's (with his wife going missing around the same time), while his son, my great grandfather Thomas Leo Conboy became a drunken mobster who my grandfather never really knew, at all. I think the Conboy/Conboy marriage may have thrown our line off for a generation, but my grandfather quickly righted the ship and diversifyed our genentic makeup with a the exotic genes of a MacGillivray from the Highlands. Anyway, I'd really appreciate any suggestions on where I might locate any additonal information, or any information about Roscommon Conboy's in general. So far I've mostly just got a lot of info on my grandfather's uncle Martin, who he did not even know existed.

Tim:
The RC church baptismal records for Tisrara parish start in 1850 and marriages in 1862 so researching prior to 1850 is difficult. The 1833 Tithe listings for Tisrara parish show a number of Conboys including two Roger records probably for the same person your ancestor http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?…
In the 1911 census for Cloonlarah which I assume you have seen indicates that Peter and Celia had eleven children and they were all living. Looking at records on the subscription site Roots Ireland, I located eleven children and the 1901 census shows a 12th John. The strange thing is that I located two Thomas records. The first is an 1871 record and the second is an 1886 record. Are you aware of a second Thomas?
