Hi, I have just last Friday had a breakthrough!! from another source that confirms that my 2x Gt Grandfather John emigrated via England arriving January 1840 in New Zealand. From this & a DNA match I now know that the family I am looking for is John 1809, James 1804, & possibly Mary 1806 O'Brien/O'Brian children of Charles O'Brien & ? (born abt 1785) in Co. Mayo. Parishes from the records I have are Turlough/Ballina, Kilmoremoy, and/or Aglish/Castlebar. Families associated by marriage are McDonaugh and O'Neill.
Any help or pointers very much appreciated.
Thankyou
Brian

Brian:
I checked on the subscription site Roots Ireland and the earliest O'Brien baptismal record in Co. Mayo with a father Charles was in 1844. All the parishes you mention have records starting later than 1810.
I also looked on the Tithe listings from the 1820s and did not see a record for a Charles O'Brien/Brien/O'Brian.

Hi Roger,
Thanks for the reply. I think that the baptismal record could well be the son/daughter of Charles' grandson Charles b: 1827. Do you have any more details please?
