Looking for Culkins and Howleys

The subscription site Roots Ireland has two Bridget Culkin baptismal records in December 1863 and December 1864. Perhaps they died young? There was a James in February 1869 and then another James in February 1883 who I presume is your great-grandfather.

I also located the marriage record onFebruary 12 1863 in Castleconor. With an 1863 marriage, Margaret could not be born in 1851. I did find a Mary 24 1840 baptismal record for a Margaret Howley with father James Howley and mother Bridget Carbine. The townland  listed was Doohaney which is actually Dooycaghny in Castleconor civil parish.

Your great-great grandfather James died in November 1902 and your great-grandfather was the informant  next to last record

Thank you very much for getting that information for me. It looks like you uncovered some ancestors I wasn't aware of in Margaret Howleys parents.
On another note I have very little knowledge about Castleconor could you let me know is it all townland is there a village? If not what is the nearest village?

According to the article, the parish was named after a castle in the parish. Castleconor parish is very close to the large town of Ballina in Co. Mayo.

My Kellys were in Bunnanulra, also with land in Newtown and Corbally, at the time of the Tithe, most then moving to Ballina between 1838 and the Griffiths. A history of local priests mentions that my Kelly 2x grandfather's wife was a Howley. My great grandfather was born in 1811 and he had at least one older brother, so the marriage was likely in the first decade of the 1800s. I'm assuming she was a Howley from Bunnanulra, Newtown or Corbally.

I'm unsure of my 2x grandfather's first name. It might have been Thady. But James or Michael are possibilities. My potential Howley Kelly 2xgrandmother was still alive in 1868 as she is mentioned in her son's will but only as 'my beloved mother.' I have been unable to find a likely death record.

Might you have any knowledge of a Kelly and Howley marriage?
