  • Hello Len,

Ann arrived in Sydney on 'Sugar Cane' on 17 September 1793, having left from Cork on 12 April 1793 with 110 male and 50 female convicts on board.  She was 'capitally' convicted in County Cavan in 1791 and was sentenced to transportation for life.

I too have been trying to find information in Ireland.  The Courthouse in Cavan does not hold records that far back.

  • HI Jenny,

Many thanks for your reply .I had got as far as your info.I've been trying to find out what Ann was charged with, but it could be lost forever due to the explosion in the Irish Public Records Office during the Civil War.

Ann and Mathew Kearns are four times great grand parents of mine

    Best regards,Jenny

    and many thanks,

    Len Graham.
