David Doran arrived in Geelong sometime before his marriage in 1868 and before his first arrest for various small crimes in 1861.
He names Michael Doran and Mary Burke as his parents on his marriage registration and wondering how he came to Australia leads me
to believe that he jumped ship. There is no sign of him on any passenger lists he is not a convict so the only other explanation is that he
worked his passage perhaps hoping to join in the gold rush and when he arrived in Geelong he jumped ship.
He married Flora Mary Robertson (from Isle of Skye Scotland) 25 Feb 1868 at St Patricks Kilmore Victoria Australia and they had three children Mary, John and Michael. David died in 1873 according to Probate records but there is no sign of death registration/burial/coroners or police reports.
