I'm Helen from Australia. My ancestors were the Crosbies of Rusheen. In particular I'm searching for more information on my 3rd great grandmother Frances Catherine Crosbie. She was the youngest child of Pierce and Jane Crosbie. Frances married Edward Parsons and lived in Bally Longford and Tarbert. EDWARD was made insolvent and was employed as a relieving officer for Tarbert region during the famine. He died of fever.
Any local information would be wonderful

I assume your ancestors were Church of Ireland? If that assumption is correct then no records are available for that parish. The records were destroyed in the Public Records Office fire in 1922 in Dublin.
The 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing shows a Letitia Crosbie in Rusheen and a Pierce Crosbie in Leanamore.

The 1824 Tithe listings did not liste Pierce Crosbie, however, there was a placename called Coll Crosbies and I;m wondering if there is a connection to your family.

Hi Helen,
I am not a local to Ireland, however my name is Hannah Crosbie, also living in Australia, and I am descended from the Crosbie's of Ballyheigue - cousins to the Crosbie's of Rusheen.
My belief is that Frances Catherine Crosbie, also known as Fanny, was also of the Ballyheigue branch. Her father was Lt.Col. Pierce Crosbie, born at Ballyheigue - brother to my own 5 x great grandfather, Col. James Crosbie - he who actually built the castle at Ballyheigue. Both were involved with the Kerry militia. Her mother was Jane Maria Bateman, who had previously been married to Conway Blennerhassett.
Anyway, I hope this is helpful in any way. :)
