Here is the written information I have for Captain L. Swanton:
Occupation-Sea Captain of a vessel which he owned. He brought cargo or lumber around the horn for Pope and Talbot Lumber Co., Portland, Oregon. His vessel was wrecked near Rio Vista and the remains were still there and visible in the 1930s. Pope and Talbot put him in charge of one of their vessels and in 1888 or 1889, he either fell or had a stroke on the ship. He was robbed of his valuables during his condition and died. He left his daughter, Alice Louise Swanton (age 17) about $3,000.00.
He may or may not be from Ireland
