The 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Clonca Civil parish showed nine Owen Doherty records including the one you cited in Templemoyle. https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/donegal/clonca.php

The baptismal records for the parish start in 1856 and the marriages start later. Civil registration started in 1864.

Unless you have other information, I don't see how we can connect Daniel Doherty born 1845 to the Owen Doherty in Templemoyle townland.

Adding to what Roger has said, I searched the death records for Owen Doherty, died 1864 to 1901, in the Inishowen registration area (which is where Clonca is situated). I found 81 deaths of folk named Owen Doherty in that area. Likewise 114 Sarah Doherty deaths. Both very common names in that area, I am afraid.

Is it possible this is your Daniel? This baptism was found at rootsireland; this is a transcription, not the actual record. The birth date is not given, only the baptismal date. His mother was Sally, a nickname for Sarah. His father was Eugene, with Eugenius being Latin for Owen. You gave a birthdate for 1845; it would have been unusual for the child not to be baptized for four years. It is possible the date you gave is incorrect...Irish people were not so aware of their birthdays as we are now.

Don't give up, Kathy. Have you traced all U.S. records for Daniel--all censuses, children's records mentioning him, marriage, death, headstone, interment list, obituary, etc.?  These may help you to identify the correct Daniel.  (I did see a Daniel Doherty of the right time period applying for citizenship in Boston and stating that he was born in Donegal. But I don't know if your Daniel got to Boston or stayed in NY.)

I've had great luck with the Roman Catholic Parish records in NYC. If you can find them on the 1860 0r 1870 Census Records, and / or know the Parish in NYC where your Doherty's landed ( I have Doherty's, Dougherty's in the Church of the Nativity, Diocese of NYC) There is a treasure trove of Baptismal, Wedding, Confirmation, and other records to be had.
