I have been searching for years for where my 4x great grandfather John Daniel O'Brien was born. I don't have any specific records but my family has the family Bible and have indicated he came from the Cork area. He had immigrated to the US by the 1830s. He married Mary Conglinton in the 1840s in North Carolina.

There is some information that he might have been born around 1817 in the Clonakilty area. I would like to find his baptismal record and the names of his mother and father.

I will be visiting Ireland again in April 2022 and would like to go to that area if possible.

John Brien or John O'Brien was a very common name in Co. Cork. I searched the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie  (Church Record TAB) and narrowed the search to Clonakilty and there were ten John Brien (or variant) baptismal records in the parish from 1810-1819. There was one record in 1817-- John Brien baptized March 26 1817 father Tim Brien and mother Catherine Connelly. They lived on Chapel Lane.

Here is a link to the actual entry on the parish register  https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632934#page/62/mode/1up

There is no way to confirm if this is the correct record especially since you are not sure if Clonakilty is the correct parish and also since we don't know the parents names to confirm the record.
