  • Andie,

You haven’t given us any dates, ages, religious denominations or specific locations, so this is a bit of a guess, but I think this may be the Mathew McBey you are interested in. His death was registered in Omagh on 2nd Nov 1892, aged 90. He was  a widower, a labourer, lived in Eskermore and the informant was his daughter Ellen McFarland also of Eskermore. His wife had pre-deceased him.

She was living in Beragh at that time: Tradition was to marry in the bride's church which in this case was Clogherny Church of Ireland. So I assume the family was COI. Is that your understanding?

There are a number of trees on Ancestry which contain a lot of detail about these families. What would you like to know that is not on those trees?

If you are looking to get back any further than Matthew, for a labourer in Ireland in the early in the1800s you may struggle to do that. Clogherny’s COI’s early records were destroyed in the 1922 fire in Dublin and sadly they don’t have anything earlier than 1859.
