Martin Murray was born in the parish of Islandeady in 1865. In 1872-1874, his father, Patrick, emigrated to Buffalo, NY with his brother Michael, and their mother, Catherine Fitzgerald Murray. In 1875, Patrick died in Buffalo. In 1882, Patrick's wife, Catherine Higgins Murray, packed up her 5 youngest children and emigrated to Buffalo by herself. Assuming that she lived with Michael's family. Catherine Fitzgerald, Catherine Higgins, Patrick, and two of their daughters, Patrick's brother, Michael and his wife are all buried together in Holy Cross Cemetery in Buffalo, NY. Martin is buried with his wife, Bridget Breshnahan Murray, a native of Athea, Limerick. Martin was a Buffalo Firefighter.
