Jacob Mcmullen's South African probate record lists his parents as William Mcmullen (Deceased) and Eliza Jane Mcmullen (Deceased). I found a reference to a marriage between a William Mcmullen and Eliza Jane McCartney at Knockbreda, County Down in July 1854. Is there any way to confirm the details of this marriage and to find a birth record for their son Jacob Mcmullen probably born in 1855?

Born in County Down circa 1856 (estimated from South African Death Notice). He was living in West Derby, Lancashire, UK at the 1871 Census and is listed as an apprentice to Casson McReed. He married a widow, Maria Elizabeth (Fenn) Bladon in 1881. They had five children all born in Huyton, Lancashire. The entire family emigrated to Cape Town, South Africa with in 1901. Jacob died in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1936.
