Hello all,
I am looking for - really anything - about my maternal g-g-grandparents, Sabina Kilbane and Michael James Duggan, who were both born on Achill Island and emigrated to Lake County, Illinois, USA.
They met and married in the US and lived in Highland Park, IL, Highwood, and Waukegan - all in Lake County, Illinois, USA.
Sabina (sometimes spelled Sebina) was born on 24 Jan 1844 Achill Island, Ireland and died 10 Feb 1915 Waukegan, Lake, IL, USA. Her parents may have been Patrick Kilbane and Sabina McCarthy of Achill Island.
Michael (Duggan is sometimes spelled Dugan) was born on 24 Jun 1844 Achill Island, Ireland and died 06 Feb 1906 Chicago, Cook, IL, USA. He fought in the US Civil War (51st Illinois Infantry) and worked for the railroad. His parents may have been Michael Duggan and Mary Gallagher (of Achill).
We visited Achill Island several years ago and were touched by its beauty and harsh history.

Baptismal records for Achill RC church do not begin until 1868 and church marriage records start in 1867.
Here is a link to the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Achill civil parish https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/mayo/achill.htm There are six Patrick Kilbane records and two Michael Duggan records.
