I am looking for information on my great-grandmother, Mary Mannix, family. She was born Aug. 1 1898 in Firies.
Her parents were Denis and Katie Mannix who owned a shop in Firies. She had siblings Helena, Denis P., Patrick, and James. I am not sure of Katie's family name as there are a couple of options that fit in the timeline and area.
She married James E. O'Mahoney (Mahoney) in 1923 and immigrated to Brooklyn, NY in 1925 with their son Timothy (Teddy) Mahoney. James, Theresa, Catherine, and Helen were all born in Brooklyn, NY.
Her brother Patrick had a daughter named "Bee" Mannix, who married Aylmer Walsh. Her brother James had a son named Timmie, who had sons Seamus and Tadgh.

See fourth record for 1890 civil marriage record for Denis Mannix and Catherine Murphy. Father's names for bride and groom are shown on the record.

Ask and you shall receive!
The marriage record shows that Catherine Murphy was from Tullig Killarney. I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and located a September 5 1858 baptismal record (born September 3) for a Catherine Murphy with father Denis Murphy and mother Honora Neil. The family lived in Tullig so I'm sure this is your Catherine.
Catherine had at least five younger siblings: Honora 1861 John 1863 Johanna 1864 Julia 1867 Bridget 1871

Roger,
Thank you again! It was an option I was leaning towards though others have a different Catherine. Do you know if Neil is also O’Neill or Neill? I get confused sometimes with the last names because they are spelled differently in some records. I know my Mahoney research has been that way.
Best,
Leanne

Leanne:
Neil, Neill, O'Neil and O'Neill are all the same surname. Spelling variances were very common in the 19th century.
