James was b. 1 March 1822, probably in Templeport Parish, Co Cavan. His parents were Robert Farrelly & Mary (nee Taylor). Robert died when James was young, unknown year. James married Mary Jane Goodfellow in 1855 Templeport. They emigrated to New Zealand in 1874 with their 4 teenaged children. My grandfather, Francis James Farrelly was b. 1875 in NZ. James died in Christchurch, NZ 21 October 1890.
