At some point in time this branch of Whites originated from a branch of Whitehurst's. Y-DNA links back to a Richard Whitehurst 1599 who originated from Staffordshire England. It is believed at one point there were Whitehurst descendants who went to Ireland to fight in Battle of Boyne 1690. I am wondering if this may have been when the “hurst” was dropped.
Was born in Tattenabuddagh Aghalurcher Fermanagh. He died in a military skirmish in Enniskillen and his widow, Elizabeth Kerr migrated to Canada with their children
