Hello,

Can you help find more information about my great grandfather and his family?

Hugh Williams (middle name unknown) born July 12, 1868, male, Roman Catholic, occupation unknown.

Born in County Galway according to family records, but Family Search has what could be his parents in County Mayo. No information on a Galway parish, townland, etc.

He married Abbie Kane, also from Galway, in New Hampshire, United States on May 26, 1892.

According to his marriage certificate, his father's name was Hugh and his mother's name was Ann. (possibly Ann Davit)

According to two different U.S. death certificates, his father was Patrick Williams or Hubert Williams.

    I located two civil birth records for children of Hugh Williams and Ann Davitt. They lived in Aillemore townland in Kilgeever civil parish in southwest Co.Mayo.

    Ann and Hugh married March 24 1845 in Kilgeever RC parish.

    I did not see a baptismal or birth record for Hugh Jr.

    Two questions: 

    Was Ann another name used for a Nancy as reported on Michael's birth record?

    Also, where can I get a copy of the marriage certificate for Ann and Hugh? Is it on a subscription website?

    I should have explained that Nancy was an alternative name for Ann.

    Civil registration of RC marriages started in 1864 so no civil record available.

    The Kilgeever parish register on the NLI site only has baptisms so I can't give you a link to the marriage entry on the parish register.
