Catherine Dwyer was the fifth child of nine, the second girl of five, in 1834. Her parents, Margaret Brackney, born abt. 1806 in Ardee, and Owen Dwyer, born abt. 1804 in Armagh, resided on Castle St. As per Catherine and all the other sibling’s birth records. The parents married in Dundalk parish in 1822.

Owen arrived in New York City in 1850 or 1853 with the whole family.
