As an example if a woman whose maiden name is Comerford and her first marriage to to a man whose last name is Doyle and Doyle dies and Comerford marries again. Suppose the 2nd husband's last name is Ryan.
Is the custom in Ireland for the the marriage record to read that the marriage is between Ryan and Comerford OR Ryan and Doyle?
Thanks!
Marge
Marge,
Normally the record shows that the marriage is between Ryan and Doyle (alias or otherwise Comerford).
Regards,
Marge:
I agree with McCoy. Also, on the civil marriage record, the name of the father is shown and you would see Comerford.
