 My GGGrandfather Cornelius Donoghue or Donohue born around 1840, 1842 spouses name Mary Casey  married in Charlestown Middlesex Massachusetts

 

Some of their children were born in America , my Grandmother Ellen Donoghue was born in Kerry around 1876 1877 & she was an infant when the family came by ship The Dunbar Castle to Australia in October 1877

 

I am interested to Know where Cornelius worked & lived in Ireland and why they continued to go back & forth to Massachusetts

Cornelius & Mary settled in Australia as far as I know and are buried here, and so is my G grandmother Ellen

 

I will be visiting Ireland in August 2024 and would like some more info on the family whilst they were growing up

    On Ancestry, the ship record shows Cornelius and Mary were both from Kerry. Their children they designated as the United States other than your Ellen.

    Per their Massachusetts wedding record in 1864, they were both born in Ireland

    Per Irishgenealogy (free) Church Records there was a Mary Casey born to John Casey and Ellen Harris in 1838 and 1840 in Rathmore, Kerry. On May 6, 1877, Ellen Donohue was baptized in Hollymount, Rathmore, Kerry, parents Cornelius Donohue and Mary Casey.

    Record found on Ancestry. 1870 US census might be Cornelius and Mary. Their daughter Mary might have died prior to their daughter Mary who would have been born around 1870.

    Cornelius's mother's last name might have been Walsh. I found a baptismal record for an Ellen Cronin on Irishgenealogy. She was baptized in 1839 in Rathmore. Her sponsors were Ellen Walsh and Cornelius Donoghue.
