I have done extensive online research on my family from Ireland. They arrived in the States in the late 1820s and early 1830s. I have the Rolston surname on both my great grandmother’s and great grandfather’s line so I suspect my great grandparents were possibly cousins. I have communicated with two people who are descendants that have said our Rolston family was from County Donegal but I have no further proof of this. They left from the Derry port. I am considering hiring a researcher from Ireland in hopes to find verification of where my family was from. Do you have suggestions on my next steps?

Do you have the names of your G/Grandmother, G/Grandfather or a time line. I did come across a marriage of two Rolstons but it was in 1875 and in County Sligo, see cert below. They were of the Church of Ireland faith, John Rolston and Isabella Rolston married in the Parish of Castleconnor.

If you have any further information that would help , names places dates etc There are many entries for the Rolston name predominately from Belfast, Armagh, Tyrone, Fermanagh etc but notably from the north of Ireland with some exceptions so any information is essential to trace your family line.

Sarah Rolston and George Crawford were born around 1800. They married and had 4 daughters Margaret, Mary Ann, Jane and Rebecca that were born in Ireland before they came to the states in 1831 from Londonderry . George Crawford’s parents were John and Margaret Crawford. Sarah Rolstons parents were John and Sarah Rolston. I have their dates of birth.
My ancestor from my other side was Samuel C. Rolston born in May 1802. He was on the NewJersey census in 1830.
