Hi, I have an interesting situation and wondered if anyone else has come across this same thing.  The woman who is most likely my 3rd great-grandmother had 3 children out of wedlock with 3 different men in 1836, 1838 and 1842.  All three children were baptized in the Catholic Church in Doon, and each father is listed, as well as sponsors. The children born are listed as illegitimate. DNA matches confirm the connection between my 2nd great grandfather and his half-brother. His half-brother was a witness at his marriage in 1863.  Appreciate any thoughts on this or any similar experiences.

Thanks,

Mary

  • Hi Mary,

I have not come across that situation before. One child out of wedlock yes , maybe two but not three  and with all the fathers names listed. That is very unusual.
