I posted this once before many years ago but I decided to give it another try.
To the best of my knowledge my great grandfather John Higgins was born in 1835 and resided in Dunlavin until 1852 when he left for the United States. His parents were Patrick Higgins and Mary Foster. He had 2 brothers: Hugh and William. Aside from articles in United States newspapers I have nothing that actually puts him in Dunlavin. I did find a listing in Griffith's Valuation for a Patrick Higgins in Dunlavin in 1854 but have no way to really know if this is the father of my great grandfather or not.
