Mulqueeney married an O'Loughlin

Here is the baptismal record for an Elizabeth Mulqueen, b. 1840 in Co. Limerick, which borders on Co. Clare.  I do not know if this is your ancestor, as we'd need more information.  Do you know her parents' names? Her children's names? Any other info?

In 1825 in the Tithe Applotment books, there was a “Mic” Mulqueeny in Kilonehan townland in Kilonehan  [Killonahan] parish in  Limerick:

In 1832 there were two Michael Mulqueens, in Newtown townland in Kilkeedy parish:

The town land of Ennistimon (if in fact, you mean the town land and not the RC parish) is in the RC parish of Kilmanaheen (AKA Clooney & Ennistymon). The baptism records for that parish are only from 1880 - 1890, and if there are existing marriage records, you would have to contact the Clare Heritage and Genealogical Centre, and they might have them, but you would perhaps need to pay them. The center has baptism records from 1823 to 1900. The trees on Ancestry show that Patrick's father was Thomas Joseph Henry O'Loughlin, but no records to prove that relationship. There is a Tithe applotment record  (1820) for a Thos O'Loughlen in the town land of Ballymichane, Kilmanaheen. I do not see that town land listed on the townlands.ie website, so it might have gotten incorporated into another town, or the spelling could be wrong.

Hi Patricia and Carolyn, thank you for you replies. I have frustratingly little to go on, only their lives upon arrival in South Australia. Australian immigration and hospital docs record them as Clare natives, having left Plymouth 10/9/1857 and arriving on Adelaide aboard the Caucasian on Christmas Day. So, nothing about Eliza's past. Other than references to Patrick Edward O'Loughlin being born in Ennistymon, Irish geographical info is absent. I too have seen reference to Thomas Joseph Henry Oloughlin/O'Loughlin, born 1800, being P. E.'s father, but - as you say - no proof. As to their children, all were born in South Australia, including my great grandmother Susan (Susie) Sarah Caroline O'Loughlin. The first child, Louisa Maria, was born 15/3/58 which indicates Eliza was pregnant when they embarked upon a new life in Australia. The ship's arrival manifest clearly refers to Patrick and Eliza O'Loughlin from Clare, aged 30 and 18 respectively. Eliza'a embarkation age was also 18, so - if accurate - she could have been born in 1839. Lots of gaps. I take, and thank you for, your tip about the CH&GC, so I may have to take that route.

If you take a look at the Caucasian's passenger list at

you will notice there is also a Patrick Mulqueeny, 21, from Clare on the ship. He is probably a brother or other relative of Eliza Jane.

Thanks Patricia, I'd myself suspected Patrick may well have been Eliza Jane's elder brother, but I've discovered precious little about him. I shall soldier on.
