I am looking for information about date of Birth and parents etc for my Great Great Grandparents, Andrew Curtis and Susan Callan who were married in 1844 in Tallenstown. Which I found in Parish records.
I have being looking for DofB and other relations for them for quite a long time, but with no luck. They had two sons, Bernard Joseph Curtis born 1845-1896 in Louth, Micheal Curtis born 1852-1868 and a daughter Mary Curtis born 1861-1862 both were born in Liverpool England.
if anyone is able to help or give any advice I would be very grateful.
Thankyou, Robert.

Robert there is an Andrew Curtis baptised on 17 April 1811 in the parish of Darver (adjoining parish) address Milltown, father Patt Curtis, mother recorded as Bridget only, witnesses, Jas Hoey and Catherine Boyle, there are a lot of Curtis baptised in Darver parish. I will look up later to see if those parents have other children to get the mothers name. Did not look for his wife Callan as yet but is a local name in Louth.

Marriage in wifes parish usually and Tallanstown baptisms start late in 1834 I think.

Griffith’s Valuation of Louth was completed in 1855. There were six heads of household in Tallanstown parish named Curtis or Callan, as below. There was a Curtis and a Callan in Louth Hall townland, and a Curtis and two Callans in Mullamore townland. You can see more detail at askaboutireland.ie.
- Griffith Curtis Patrick Louth Hall Tallanstown Co. Louth
- Griffith Curtis Patrick Mullamore Tallanstown Co. Louth
- Griffith Callan James Mullamore Tallanstown Co. Louth
- Griffith Callan Patrick Louth Hall Tallanstown Co. Louth
- Griffith Callan Patrick Mullamore Tallanstown Co. Louth
- Griffith Callan Patrick Rathbody Tallanstown Co. Louth

While your direct ancestors had emigrated by 1855, the people in Mullamore or Louth Hall may have been their family members. It is possible Andrew and Susan came from this area.

Robert, I found only one other baptism for those parents, unfortunately no mothers name still, this was a Daniel, baptised in 1815 on 15th February. On the 27th February 1801 a Patrick Curtis married a Bridget Cunningham, in Darver, witnesses were Thomas Rogers and Mary McGorman, wonder if that name is transcribed correctly. So few children there if correct family, there is not guarantee this is the right family, some parishes do not have records at this remove, I am aware of a lady recently who was reThere searched this area found an entry on Family Search that was not recorded here so maybe give it a try.
I looked at the Tithes Applottments here https://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp There are no entries for Tallenstown and only one for Darver with the majoritiy for
in the parish of Faughart west of Dundalk, now this means little as not everyone was liable for the tax or paid it but interesting. The Darver entryos a Michael Curtis in 1827.by
There was a census done for Tallenstown by the local Parish Priest in 1834 and I see no Curtis people mentioned, there are a few Callan but spelled Collan, if you would like a copy of this census you can email me at stpeters@irelandxo.com my site address.
