My ancestor is Caleb Ryan, born about 1790 and apparently in or around Killaloe. He married Ellen? (possibly Lucas) and they had a daughter Dinah or Diana Ryan about 1820 in Ireland. They all immigrated to Canada between 1835-1839. None of their records in Canada detail the place of birth other than Ireland, however, it is believed that they immigrated with others in his family - brothers Francis Ryan (Mary Hodgins) ch: Nathaniel, William, Bridget, John, George and Caleb; as well as the children of a deceased brother Nathaniel Ryan (Mary Navin) ch: Phillip,Moira, Caleb, Nathaniel, Abigail, Charles, Catharine, all of them born in Ireland.

I have not found any immigration records for these families but they do appear in the census records of Ontario by 1851 and there are marriages and children born ten years prior to that, so their immigrations predates those years.

The three males -  Francis, Nathaniel and Caleb are believed to be the sons of Philip Ryan of Nenagh and Abigail Fletcher.

Philip Ryan and his son Nathaniel both worked for the Whitegate Estate - Nathaniel rumored to have been killed in 1835 and both buried near Nenagh. Abigail Fletcher the mother, is buried in Castletown. It is after the death of Nathaniel that the family appeared to scatter.

This family do not identify as Catholic in the records in Canada and the use of their given names of Nathaniel, Caleb, Francis and Philip are common throughout.

I did find a marriage record for Caleb Ryan and Ellen Lucas in 1820 Killaloe and it seems likely that this is the correct Caleb  but could find no other information on Ellen Lucas or Caleb Ryan for that area. I could not find any information on the birth of their daughter and none that might indicate any other children.

I am trying to find any information on this family -  Caleb Ryan - Ellen Lucas; brothers Francis and Nathaniel Ryan - Phillip Ryan and Abigail Fletcher and any other children they may have had if any, or did the entire family leave Ireland all at the same time?
