I'm seeking additional information on my third great grandparents.  John Madden, my third great grandfather, was probably born between 1780 and 1800.  He married Mary Tully (ca 1781-1886), daughter of Patrick, in the Killererin parish, south of Tuam in North East Galway, but the year is unknown .  We have found no death record for John.

John and Mary’s first child was Patrick, probably born around 1820 to 1822.  A further 3 sons followed: John in 1823, Michael between 1824 and 1827 and Thomas in 1828.  There were two other children, William and Maria, but the years of their births are unknown and both were deceased before 1886.  The years of birth of the children that are known cast doubt in my mind on the age of their mother Mary, who, according to her death certificate and tombstone, was 105 years old and had been in Victoria Australia for 32 years when she died in 1886.  It would put her at about 40 years when her first child was born and still having children at 50; further that she made the voyage to Australia as a 73 year old.  Interestingly at the time she died a newspaper obituary stated she had 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, all of which were in Australia; so she had no Irish based grandchildren?

We are unaware of any records of John and Mary and their family from those times.  One family researcher places them occupying a small acreage at Togher Beg.  I understand Griffiths Valuation has a record of a Patrick Madden as the tenant of 7 acres in the Parish of Killererin, at Togenberg, in 1855.
