Orphan Girls
In the 1800s there were a number of assisted emigration schemes that enabled girls and young women to emigrate from Ireland to the colonies of Australia. The purpose of this group is to document the women who left Ireland as part of these schemes. This group aims to reconnect the descendants of these women with the local communities in Ireland where the girls came from, and to provide a forum for exchanging information about their experiences.
