John Kelly from Fermoy, a potential ancestor of Heather Clarey from Australia

I met Heather Clarey, from Australia, in Fermoy on Thursday August 22^nd.

Heather’s ancestor, John Kelly, was from Cork, and from DNA analysis, she suspects that he was from the Fermoy area. She has a number of DNA matches in the Fermoy, Mitchelstown, Glanworth areas. According to census records, her ancestor John Kelly was born in 1839. There was John Kelly of William Street, Fermoy, who was baptised in 1839, leaving him a potential ancestor, especially as there are a number of DNA matches in the area.

After tea and a chat, Heather and I explored the Glanworth and Mitchelstown areas. Heather went away happy to have seen the areas of her potential relatives, and is determined to undertake further research to find her ancestor.
