Migrated to/Born in Australia

Andrew Clarke was born in 1829, or more likely 1835, father Michael and mother unknown but possibly Bridget. He had at least one brother, Michael, born in 1836. They were possibly born or lived in Bailieborough, Knockbride or Mullagh.

Andrew arrived in South Australia around 1859-1863 and Michael a few years later. There are no verifiable shipping records in South Australia; possibly they travelled steerage where only passenger numbers were recorded. In 1869, he married Annie Nolan (daughter of Mortimer Nolan and Susan Scarfe) at Sevenhill, near Clare SA. They had 10 children - Ann, Andrew (died), Michael (died), Rose Mary, Mary, Philip, Bridget (died), Margaret, Bridget (died), Catherine Bridget and Susan.

Andrew began as a Hawker, before setting up a shop at Clare and later at Wirrabara. They retired to Glenelg in 1891 after 17 years at Wirrabara. Andrew died at Glenelg in 1908. Annie died at Glenelg in 1932, aged 91.
