Ann McCarthy : Short Biography

Sometime before 1845 Ann came to New South Wales, Australia. She had her first child, Ann Cole/Coal in Goulburn, NSW fathered by Thomas Cole/Coal.

Her next 6 (maybe 9) children fathered by Michael McGill were all born in New South Wales, Australia between the years 1845-1855. 

1861 Ann had her last child Sarah McDonald fathered by John McDonald. 

1885 she married John McDonald sadly only to pass away 6 months later aged approx 67 years.

We believe Ann McCarthy's father's name is Dennis McCarthy and she was born in Cork, Munster, Ireland. 

Death certificate states Ann McCarthy was married at age 15 to a Moran Brown. However the children listed on her death certificate under this marriage are incorrect 1) there is no mention of her first child, 2) Sarah (last child listed) is John McDonald's child 3) Other children are McGill's not Browns.

John McDonald was the informant my only guess is he listed Sarah under the first marriage so she wasn't known as born out of wedlock. 

For decades my mother & other distant relatives have been trying to locate information on Ann, her parents, her circumstances of coming to Australia, as well her marriages & relationships.

Ann McCarthy is my Great Great Great Grandmother.
