My maternal Great-Grandmother, Anna Louella Johnston (1872-1916), was born near Sligo, Ireland, I believe perhaps in Dromahaire, Leitirm.
Her mother Mary McMan (per her Rochester, NY death certificate) or Maria McKenna (baptism record which may be hers), passed when she was young and she came to the United States in 1886.
She married and died in Rochester, New York.
Her father, John Johnston (1836-1911) was married a second time, to Bedelia Dolan (1834-1955) and moved his family to Shaker Heights, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. They planted roots first, however, and are buried in Johnston Township, Trumbull County, Ohio. The land that formed Johnston Township, was Established in 1803 and Johnston was named after Captain James Johnston, a Connecticut land agent. I would assume that there might be some relation since they headed there to settle but would like to find the link back to family in Ireland.
