Bridget Swift was born 15 Aug 1829 in Ballylee, daughter of Mary Connell and Thomas Swift. She emigrated to America in 1848 with her brother, Martin Swift.
Bridget had a younger sister, Mary Anna (b. 1833) - who emigrated to the States in 1851 with their other brother John (b.1831).
In 1855, Bridget married in Albany, New York, to Thomas Quinn (b. 1827 at Tullamore, Kings Co.) He was a widower with a young son William (born 1854.)
Bridget and Thomas lived for a time in New York and then moved to Oneida, (Knox Co.), Illinois. They lived for a short time at Clifton (Louisa Co.) Iowa and later in Washington (Washington Co.) Iowa. They were parents to nine children:
Mary Jane (Molly) (1859-1943), Agnes (Sister Mary Owsin, BVM) (1864-1906), Ella C. (1866-1888), Elizabeth C. (Lizzie) (1866-1947), Teresa Marie (b. 1868), George T. (1872-1906), John F. (1875-1928), Thomas (d. 1906) and James (d. 1906).
Thomas worked for the railroad on the Rock Island Line until he lost his vision. He died 16 November 1915 in Washington, Iowa. Bridget Swift Quinn died on 3 March 1920 in Washington, Iowa and is buried at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
