My grandmother Catherine Tangney (born O'Callaghan) was born 21st April 1899 (source - original birth certificate) and died 28th July 1974 (my mother's notes and I did meet my grandmother)

Both my grandmother's father Denis O'Callaghan and her husband John's father Michael Tangney were farmers in Tralee.

I don't know much about her mother Johanna Shea other than it is believed that her father was Matthew O'Shea of County Kerry, Trughanacmy, Annagh Civil Parish, Cloghers.

Her father Denis O'Callaghan was born 2nd April 1852 in Tralee and died around 1926 he had two sisters Ellen & Mary.  His father John O'Callaghan, was born around 1827 and died 21 March 1903, I have his address as having been Castle Street, Tralee Kerry and that he was buried in Rath Old Cemetery Tralee, his parents are unknown, John's wife I have as being Nora Carmody born about 1831, 1901 Census has her as illiterate, age 70 living in Tralee Kerry.  Nora was living at her daughter Mary's house in High Street, Tralee when she died 25th February 1909 (source: news paper clipping), Nora's parents are unknown.

My grandmother Catherine Tangney (born O'Callaghan) came to Australia via Liverpool on the Themistocles, The Aberdeen Line, with children Michael & Margaret (Peggy) they departed Liverpool on 30th July 1927 to join her husband John Tangney who had travelled ahead in 1926 during the great depression.
