Catherine McTernan of Doonkelly townalnd, Fivemilebourne, Co Leitrim was born circa 1839. Her father was Garret McTernan and she had a brother James (1826-1896) who had at least six children, four of whom married and had families.
Catherine married Patrick Cunningham of Fawnlion on 14 November 1864 and they had five children:
– Patrick (b. 1 Nov 1865; d. 30 Jan 1937 at Colgagh, Calry)
– James (b. 5 May 1867; d. 28 Aug 1883 at Fawnlion)
– Michael (b. 14 Apr 1869; d. 16 Apr 1949 at Fawnlion)
– Bartley (b. 22 Nov 1873; d. 18 May 1962 at Kilerry)
– Mary (b. 16 Jan 1876; d. 8 Mar 1899 at Fawnlion)
Catherine died at Fawnlion on 29 Nov 1912. Her husband Patrick Cunningham predeceased her on 28 April 1906. Patrick, Michael and Bartley married and had families.
