Charles was born in Farnham Street, Cavan to Robert Sheridan & Anne Sheridan (née Gaffney). Robert, his father was a shoe maker. In 1901 Census he was living with his parents and his sister Kate who was two years older than him. By 1911 they had moved to Cockhill Lane in Cavan Town.
