Cornelius Franklin was bap 29 May 1800 at Ballyhade Roman Catholic Parish Castledermot  County Kildare IRELAND to parents Laurence & Catherine Franklin. So far it is know that Cornelius had a brother Peter bap 7 May 1791 Castledermot, Christopher Bap 12 Nov 1796 and a sister Catherine born 1807 Ireland.

Cornelius married Mary Doolan/Dolan/Dowling 1 Dec 1832 in Castledermot, Mary was said to be born 1805 at Co Rildon Kildare.

Three children were  born to Cornelius and Mary in Ireland they were Eliza 1832 Carlow, James bap 31 May 1935 Castledermot and and Benjamin c 1836/7 Castledermot.

Cornelius and Mary decided to emigrate to Australia in 1839.

According to Shipping Records
Cornelius Franklin, Farmer and Labourer from Castledermot Kildare, Born 1805 aged 34 years arrived Australia 14th December, 1839 aboard "North Britain" bought out by the government,
Cornelius, son of Laurence Franklin, a farmer and his wife Catherine, was in good health, of the Roman Catholic religion and had no complaints about the voyage.
 Also on Board his wife Mary bc1805 aged 34 years of Co Rildon Kildare daughter of Maurice Dolan a farmer and his wife Judy  together with children Eliza (7) James (6) Benjamin (3) and Catherine (born 26 Nov 1839 on the voyage) 19 days, and Corneluis' sister Catherine aged 32 years from County Kildare a dairymaid.
Also on board but not known if related were the following Franklin persons Benjamin aged 22, Catherine aged 22, Eliza aged 22, James aged 22.  A further child Mary Theresa Franklin (my great -grandmother) was born to Cornelius and Mary on 27 Aug 1832 at Cullen Bullen NSW.

Cornelius and Mary lived at Regentsville near Penrith NSW.  Cornelius passed away 28 August 1863 at Regentsville at this time no death has been found for Mary.

Eliza married John Livermore and they had 12 children she died on 3 May 1897 at Cargo NSW                                      

James never married he died 20 Jan 1908at Cargo NSW                                                                                             

Benjamin married widow Margaret Bevan nee Doyle  17 July 1876 at Wangarratta Victoria. Margaret coincidently had also been born in Carlow.  Margaret & Benjamin lived at Greta Victoria where Benjamin was one of it's oldest and best respected resident who was well know in farming and dairy circles.  Benjamin and Margaret had no children, he passed away on 21 January 1902 at Greta Victoria.

Catherine married Abraham Weir on 16th April 1868 in Sydney NSW.  Catherine and Abraham had 6 boys and 1 girl.  She passed away in Sydney on 30 December 1893.                                                                                                                   

Mary Theresa (my great-grandmother) married Henry Francis Flynn on 11 February 1873 at Paddington Sydney.  Mary and Henry's first child Frances was born in Sydney but shortly after the family moved to Attunga just outside Tamworth NSW where another 6 children were born, one passing away at the age of 3 years.  Mary passed away on 21 Dec 1885 at Attunga.
