Daniel J Gallery was born in Ireland, lived in Ennistymon, County Clare, until he left for America. He arived in the United States in 1854. Lived in Chicago, illinois, became a Teamster, an early leader in the transfer business, and an original member of the Board of Trade.
He married Mary Ann Daly, of County Waterford, and they raised eight children in Chicago. His oldest son, Daniel Vincent Gallery, married Mary Josephine Onahan in 1898, and they raised six children, including Daniel V. Gallery, Philip Daly Gallery, and my father, William Onahan Gallery — all three Rear Admirals in the United States Navy.
