Daniel Joseph Canny : Short Biography

Dan Canny was descended from Lott Canny, who rented a house/farm in County Clare in 1822 from Colonel O'Callaghan. Dan emigrated to the U.S. in 1911 and joined the navy, thus gaining instant U.S. citizenship. He later worked in the Peter Reeves grocery store, eventually becoming a manager. In 1919 he married Helen ("Nellie") Lynch and they had four children: Margaret (b. 1920) - my mother, John (b. 1923), Helen (b. 1930) and James (b. 1935). 

Nellie passed in January 1967 and Dan in October 1969.
