David Mackie (1638-1680) died at Drumbo, Down. He was born in Minnigaff, Kirkcudbright, Galloway, Scotland to Sir Patrick Mackie (1597-1678). This family had been part of the undertakers of the plantation of Ireland and some settled in Ireland. Davids brother John Laird of Larg & Palgown (1640-1720) died in Drumbo as did his sister Katherine (1645-1726). Other sibblings, Thomas and Patrick also died in Ireland. The family could have had property there, been exiles or fled persecution as they were firm presbyterians at the time of the Covenanters. Davids son, John (1667 -1726) also died at Drumbo, Down.
