David Woods Kennedy was born in Kilclief, County Down in 1818 the son of William Kennedy and Mary Woods.

He was married to Mary Cultra/Coulter the daughter of William Coulter and Ann Rea. She was born in Killyleagh ca. 1820. Their marriage occurred on 9 Nov 1839 at the Regent Street Presbyterian Church in Newtownards, County Down. David and his parents were living in Wallace's Deed in Newtownards at the time.

David and Mary's first three children, Henry Leslie Kennedy, Emily Jane Kennedy and William Cultra Kennedy were all born in Newtownards and baptized at Regent Street Presbyterian Church. David, Mary and children relocated to Cavan, County Cavan ca. 1845 where they remained until 1857 when David emigrated to New Harmony, Ohio to find work with his older brother (William Kennedy, B. Balleygrainey in 1814).  Mary and children relocated one year later.

In 1860 David and brother William relocated to Illinois; David to Wayne County and William to Montgomery County where they took up farming land.

Can anyone offer any information about David and William's parents William Kennedy and Mary Woods Kennedy who were last known to be in Wallace's Deed, Newtownards?
