Denis Byrne married Bridget Burke, from County Clare, in Sydney Australia in 1855. We are not sure how or when he came to Sydney however he and Bridget then left for the gold fields in Victoria. They had 7 children and were pioneers of the Riverina in NSW. He died in Holbrook NSW in 1891 leaving Bridget and their sons a large estate, Bridget lived another 30 years and died in Wagga Wagga NSW in 1929. His second son Michael is my great grandfather and he married Margaret Finneran. Her family were also from Elphin Roscommon, parents John and Mary Finneran nee Cullinan.
I have a lot of information about Bridget Burke and her parents but Denis and the Finneran’s are a mystery. I can not find when he came to Australia or how and at what age. Denis seems to have just turned up!?
Denis Byrne May be a different spelling eg Birne I have been told.
