In 1843 Denis Carthy married Mary Cronin in Schull West. In 1844, they baptised a son, Jeremiah, there. In 1845, they baptised a daughter, Mary, there. Denis and Mary may be my gg-grandparents.
A couple of the same names had a son, John, baptised at St. Finbarr's, Cork, in 1851.
My g-gf Denis (jr.) was born in Wales in, well, maybe 1854 or 1859 or sometime between. A family of the right names and near ages is in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales in 1861 and 1871. All the rest of the children were born in Wales (tho I've had no luck finding their birth records): Patrick, Ellen, Johanna, Catherine and Daniel.
They all came to the US, to Pittsburgh, PA, in the early 1870s. We don't know whether Jeremiah came, too, or stayed in Wales or Ireland.
Does anyone else have family in Schull that left for Wales?
