Denis Toland married (about 1845) to Ann Thompson. Their children:
Ann abt 1846-Nov. 1870 Montreal Quebec Canada married to John O'Reilly; Mary abt 1850-June 1906 Montreal Quebec Canada married to James McLaughlin; Sarah born March 1853-Sep 1913 Montreal Quebec Canada married to Denis Hayes (born 1844 Co Tipperary);Isabella born Jan 1854 baptised All Saints Parish Co Donegal-April 1906 Montreal Quebec Canada married to Patrick Coffey; Catherine abt 1855-Aug 1887 Montreal Q.C. married to Patrick Mullins; Margaret born Aug 1859 baptised All Saints Parish Co Donegal-June 1914 Montreal Q.C she was the 2nd wife of Patrick Mullins her sister's widower; John Toland Oct 1861 baptised All Saints Parish Co Donegal-abt 1903 married Mary Finnell; Eliza Jane Sep 1864 baptised Raphoe Co Donegal-Nov 1904 Veagh Co Donegal married John Houston; and Susan Aug 1871 Co Donegal-Feb 1928 Montreal Q.C. married George Woodward.
Apparently the only Toland in this family to stay in Ireland was Eliza Jane Toland Houston. Some of the daughters' marriage records show Denis Toland as a shoemaker, other records say a laborer or a small farmer. Petty Sessions Court records seem to indicate farmer? The Ireland records are a newer research area for me as my connection is through Sarah Toland Hayes so my research has been mostly in Canadian records. Veagh, All Saints Parish, Raphoe are the place names I have found.
