Edmund O'Donoghue, my grandfather emigrated to New Zealand about 1911. He was born in Kilmallock, County Limerick in 1887. His parents were Edmund O'Donoghue and Bridget O'Gorman.

Thank you Margot for this information - much appreciated. I have been unable to find any record of my grandfather arriving in New Zealand. Would there be a record of his departure from Ireland to New Zealand? I'm wondering if he may have gone to America or Australia before coming to New Zealand. Regards, Mary Overbeek
Hi Mary.
I have been looking again at travel from Ireland, USA, Australia etc. no results sorry for Edmund.
I went back to the Census and searched for the names, to see if I could match up any marriages or trees. There is one, it's a bit of a mess, she has Edmund the father's death in the USA!
I found James, he married, where it says the place where he lived, Forge Road, Athlacca.
Athlacca is where my Father was from, I still visit there to see a cousin.

Thank you for this information about James' marriage. Edmund's father could have gone to America, some members of the family emigrated to the USA. It's unlikely he would have left his wife and youngest son in Ireland I think?
