Edward Molloy was born in 1804 in Killian, Cavan. ( Hellian Shanorcke Cavan ??) At 23 in 1827 he enlisted in the 63rd (West Suffolk) Regiment of Foot, Military Company 5, Rank: Private. His regiment embarked for duty in NSW and Van Diemen's Land accompanying convict ships 1828-1833.  He was detached to Port Arthur VDL July 1831, then Macquarie Harbour in Oct 1831 and then Launceston from Oct 1832 until the regiment sailed for India in 1833. He served in VDL for five years and one month.

He served in India and Burma for thirteen years and three months. The regiment was deployed from India to Mawlamyine and Moulmein Burma in 1838 and then back to India in 1842. The regiment embarked for England in 1847.

A daughter Mary Anne Molloy was born in Madras in 1839. Marriage date unknown. Spouse unknown possibly Mary Anne McConnon.

Edward Molloy became a Chelsea Pensioner/Enrolled Pensioner in 1847. 

He died in Victoria, Australia in 1854 after an accident falling from a horse. 

Mary Anne Molloy his widow received a five acre land grant in 1858 on Veteran's Row in Westbury Tasmania.

His daughter Mary Anne Molloy married Edward Daniel Sullivan in Launceston, Tasmania in 1857.
