I'd love to hear from anyone who knew the Powers. Martin was a farm labourer and, after Brigid died in a horrendous fire accident, he remarried to Catherine.
Eileen was born in 1935. Eileen was my birth mother and she died in England in 2008. She was born in Mill St to Brigid and Martin but the family lived just out of Callan; Courtnaboolie?
My daughter and I were in Callan last July, which was great. Eileen and some siblings left for England when she was 14. I didn't know her but I'm hugely grateful to her in many ways. I got my Irish passport last summer.
