Can you tell me more about the brother John Ryan? Do you know the circumstances of when their family came to the U.S. ? I have a great, great grandfather named John Ryan and he came over with his wife and 3 sons, but she died soon after and he had to send his sons to be raised by some aunts in Montreal.

This John Ryan never married, died 37 years old, born in Old Pallas, baptised 12 Nov 1854 in Pallasgrean & Templebredon Parish. He immigrated to Chicago by at least 1872 - according to his 14 Jun 1892 Illinois Death Certificate he had been a resident of Illinois for 20 years. He was the 1st of his siblings to leave Old Pallas for Chicago, followed by brother William RYAN Jr c.1883 and sister Eliza Elizabeth "Bessie" RYAN c.1889-1900. He was a Stone Cutter by profession. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Evanston, Cook, Illinois.

Seems from my Ancestry research Elizabeth is my great great grandmother,
the first in the line of my direct ancestry to come to the US.I hope to visit her hometown one day!

Hi Kim
This Elizabeth Ryan came to NY we believe in 1876,
married my GGG grandfather Patrick Lenahanin 1884
had my Great Grandmother Honora Lenahan in 1886,
she married Michael O'Neill then had my ggrandfather Patrick O'Neill :)
I see you have done extensive research with Geneology!,
It's a wonderful hobby I love, just gets quite confusing at times with irish names lol :)

Lee,
I think we are talking about different Elizabeth Ryans from Old Pallas! This is my husband's great grandmother and we know she definitely immigrated to Chicago, married in Chicago to a man named John Ryan from Ballyadam [which makes things doubly confusing :) ] and died in Chicago. I have a Public tree on Ancestry called "2 Wettroth" where I put all my research.
It is a challenging name to research for sure! Good luck and enjoy the journey.
Kim
