Eliza was baptised on the 28th February 1842 at St Munchins, Limerick. Her Victorian Education department records give her a birthdate of 23rd July 1843 - so I've assumed the day and month were correct and made it 1841. I suppose the Elizabeth baptised in 1842 could have died and they had another daughter they called Eliza in 1843, but no record of the baptism.
Her father was Henry O'Grady (sometimes Grady), a gardener and his wife, Mary nee Reddan. She had sisters, Catherine, Mary, Anne and Jane (the latter baptised in Clare).
Her Ed Dept records say she taught at St Mary's in Limerick.
She may be the Eliza O'Grady who arrived in Victoria, unassisted, on the Champion of the Seas in 1866 or the Wallsea in 1867. She began teaching in Victoria at Golden Point, Chewton on the 16th Oct 1867.
Her sisters, Catherine and Anne arrived as assisted passengers on the Phoebe Dunbar 1854. Anne married John Palmer. Sisters, Mary and Jane arrived as assisted passengers on the Clara in 1863. Jane married David Spurling.
Eliza married Michael Henry O'Brien on the 27th Dec 1869 at St Mary's in Castlemaine. They had Mary Philomena (Phyllis), William Henry, Frances Josephine, Ada Aloysia, Sarah, Robert Aloysius and Eva Agnes.
She died at Richmond in 1919 and was buried with daughter, Phyllis and mother-in-law, Bridget at Maryborugh Cemetery.
