Elizabeth Black was born in Dublin North, the fifth child of James and Eliza Black. Her father was an engine driver and was born around 1830. Her mother Eliza's maiden name was Cummins and she was born around 1835 in County Wicklow. Eizabeth attended Carnew School in County Wicklow, left school at the age of 13 and emigrated to Canada before her 14th birthday to take a job in service in Toronto. Her mother and three of her siblings remained in Ireland but moved to Belfast. They have a Belfast address in 1886. Her mother Eliza, her sister MaryAnn and her brother Joseph all died between 1889 and 1895. Her sister Margaret is a question mark as no details have been discovered about her yet. Elizabeth married Ben Conacher in Canada, had 10 children and died in 1955.
